Keywords:

This study addresses the recent attention to LGBT+ memories in the Brazilian museological field and preservation initiatives. Although Social Museology has advanced, the field remains cisheterocentric, reproducing oppressions like LGBTphobia and racism. The research identifies a museological countermovement, exemplified by the LGBT Memory and Social Museology Network, the Sexual Diversity Museum, and the Transgender Museum of History and Art (MUTHA). The investigation confirms the existence and applicability of LGBT Museology, highlighting its relevance as resistance against the erasure of dissident memories and as a theoretical contribution to the museological field.
