Abstract

The text discusses the importance of the right to memory for the LGBT+ community as part of human rights, highlighting how memory is fundamental for recognizing identities and building community ties. The author reflects on the challenges faced by LGBT+ individuals in a cisheteronormative society that invisibilizes and marginalizes them. Examples such as the struggle for memory for Paula and Victória illustrate how affirming identities and preserving history are essential for resistance and valuing trans and LGBT+ experiences. The fight for an inclusive right to memory must incorporate diverse narratives, including those from indigenous communities.
