This article investigates African material culture, focusing on the candomblé clothing collection from Ilê Axé Iyá Nassô Oká, from 1943 to 2004, donated to the Museum of Clothing and Textiles. It presents a decolonial perspective in gender, body, and sexuality analyses, highlighting linguistic distortions and hierarchy in candomblé. African philosophy and womanism are addressed to understand the experiences of black women.
