Abstract

This article is based on a monograph that examines the issue of LGBT literature through the lens of the concept of information appropriation in the context of information mediation, using a literary analysis of *Enquanto Eu Não Te Encontro*, a work from Brazilian LGBTQIAPN+ literature. It draws on conceptual studies by Cavalcante, Guaraldo, Borges and Almeida Junior concerning information mediation and appropriation, alongside studies by Antonio Candido, Arthur Necchi, Renan Quinalha, Michèle Petit and João Silvério Trevisan on literature and LGBT literature. The research question posed is: How does the reading public understand the representation mediated by the work *Enquanto Eu Não Te Encontro*? It examines how literary appropriation manifests itself through the connection between the individual and the text. It concludes that the appropriation of literary reading, in the context of the work *Enquanto Eu Não Te Encontro*, arises from the relationship between readers and the work, not only because of identification with the contextual situations present in the narrative, but also through the communication conveyed by Rhuas’s writing, which captivates through its lightness of touch and the portrayal of the experiences of the LGBTQIAPN+ community.
