Abstract

The Transgender Museum of History and Art (MUTHA) is the only trans museum in Brazil and one of the few worldwide, established in 2018 by Me. Ian Habib. The museum operates as an ever-evolving artistic work focused on the preservation, research, and education regarding the history and art of trans individuals. Its actions aim to recover erased memories, create archives about the everyday violence faced by the trans community, and promote new ways of living. MUTHA intends to organize a virtual Historical Archive that is accessible and free, challenging cisheteronormative narratives and fostering creativity and trans knowledge production.
