Saúde mental da população LGBTI+ avançou para quem?
Abstract
This paper proposes a critical and interpretative reflection on the National Policy for Comprehensive Health of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Travestis, and Transsexuals (PNSILGBT), with particular attention to the context of Primary Health Care (PHC). It is a mixed qualitative study, based on documentary and bibliographic review, addressing the issue of care for the socio-sanitary needs of users with multiple gender identities and sexual orientations within the Unified Health System (SUS). The study aimed to highlight historical aspects related to the creation, implementation, and consolidation of the PNSILGBT within SUS care networks. Scientific works with this investigative direction, published in the last five years, in open-access virtual databases and written in Portuguese, were included. The following descriptors were used: LGBT health; comprehensive LGBT policy; LGBT primary care; and LGBT SUS. As one of the most recent specific national health policies within the SUS, this research revealed a shortage of studies focused on understanding the care and assistance provided to the LGBT community in Brazil. Although the implementation of the PNSILGBT is considered one of the most significant achievements in terms of social justice, further studies are still needed, as the relevance of this topic to the defense of fundamental rights is recognized, in light of the doctrinal principles that guide PHC in SUS: universality, comprehensiveness, and equity. Despite its existence and social resistance, the full implementation of the PNSILGBT remains far from the desired goal.
